It Will Be QB Controversy Time if Carson Wentz Beats Bills; Keys to a Vikings Win

When Kevin O’Connell announced Thursday that Kyler Murray will sit out Monday night with his hamstring strain and Carson Wentz will start against Buffalo, my first thought was if Wentz beats the Bills, we’ll have a QB controversy in Vikingsland after Murray’s shaky performance in the loss to the Lions. My second thought was Kevin O’Connell, his offensive assistants, and perhaps Justin Jefferson and his fellow receivers are probably fine with Wentz taking over after he beat the Packers and Bears early this season and he threw three TD passes and no interceptions in those two games. It’s also clear he has a much better grasp of the Vikings offense so he won’t hold the ball as Murray has done too often. Of course what Wentz doesn’t have is Murray’s speed and scrambling ability but that’s an okay trade off if he does a better job getting the ball to his playmakers starting with the frustrated Jefferson who was targeted only once in the second half of the last two games.
